Since the introduction of the Echo to Eureka in patch 5.1, it became possible to much more easily level solo in Eureka than previously. Of course, Eureka itself is community-minded content, but feel free to use this information if you ever need to level solo.
This page continues from the Solo Leveling in Pagos page. Eureka leveling has some basic principles you should familiarise yourself with from the solo leveling page, before diving deep into Pyros tips here.
For general information about Pyros NPCs and relic weapon/armor progression, please check the Pyros page.
General Guidelines
- Always keep up your food buff, Potion of Harmony, and Pyros Elemental buff. Use Eurekan potion whenever available.
- Focus on enemies that can adapt/mutate. Avoid grinding enemies that spawn a fate, they don't mutate or adapt so are less efficient to grind
- Buy some cheap Conceptual and Fundamental Logograms on the marketboard to quickly get started with the Logos system
- Teleports unlock at levels 37, 39 and 41 - so attune as soon as you can, especially to the last one as it's right where you need it at level 41 for Reflect L farming.
Logos actions are extremely useful tools you can start using as soon as you finish your first quest in Pyros. Check Logograms for additional information on these, it is also explained in-game as you proceed. Logograms are tradable, which is why it is recommended to immediately buy some from the marketboard. You can of course simply wait and collect some for yourself in Pyros, but just remember, having logos actions equipped will help you a lot.
Basic Logos
These are some of the most basic and useful actions to use while leveling:
Of course, you can play around with as many actions as you want. As you hit level 38, finish the quest so you can equip two actions at once.
Important Steps
- Level 37: attune to the Dragon Star Observatory Aetheryte
- Level 38: finish the quest and unlock two Logos action slots
- Level 39: attune to the Firing Chamber Aetheryte
- Level 41: attune to the Carbonatite Quarry Aetheryte
Quest Locations:
Enemies
In Pyros and next zone, enemies have passive properties attached to their element.
- Wind: Increased evasion, causing your attacks to miss
- Ice: Increased HP
- Fire: Deal increased damage
- Water: Can't be stunned
- Lightning: Can't be paralysed
- Earth: Can't be heavied or slowed
Levels 35 - 41
Grind enemies 2 levels above you that can adapt or mutate. As the solo leveling page suggests, you can use the bestiary to focus on right enemies.
Keep in mind that mobs that mutate change element upon mutating. So try to get their HP down low before they mutate to make it easier, if you have a stun ability you can use it once they've mutated or adapted for extra safe. DO NOT STUN THEM BEFORE THEY FINISH CASTING MUTATION.
Definitely do the first few quests until you unlock umbral array - it will allow you to craft two logos actions at once and will make your Pyros grind easier. It is unlocked at lvl 38.
You can join FATEs that are around your level but do not rely on FATEs for leveling. Chaining mutated/adapted enemies is better than FATE grinding. Ignore FATEs that are way higher level than your elemental level range.
Levels 41 - 48
The most efficient method to level from level 41 to level 48 is using the Logos action Reflect L.
At the Carbonatite Quarry Aetheryte you will find level 48 enemies called White Flame. The only damage they do is magical damage, so it gets reflected back to them as long as you have the Reflect L buff up. If you have a low defense more damage will get reflected back to them, so remove your gear (or equip something with very low defense). This method is best used at level 42.
Here's how it is done:
- Step 1 - Craft one or two Logos Action Reflect L
- Step 2 - Go to Carbonatite Quarry aetheryte (unlocked at level 41).
- Step 3 - Stand close to the aetheryte and remove all your gear (or equip low level gear). Make sure NOT to be in defensive (water).
- Step 4 - Activate Reflect L before you run into the enemies. Reflect buff lasts 10 seconds.
- Step 5 - Run into the enemies with a Reflect buff active, and keep using Reflect L every 5-6 seconds to refresh it and draw aggro (White Flames have magic aggro, so they will aggro on casts).
- Step 6 - Keep running and refreshing aggro. When you want to stop, do it near the aetheryte so you avoid accidentally pulling unwanted enemies.
A small caveat:
During night time, snakes appear nearby, don't be afraid of them. Night enemies(ashkins) have blood aggro, so they will aggro if you are at very low health or go through/touch them.
Here is a video example of what to do exactly while Reflect farming. Note how far away the player is before applying the first Reflect. Also, at the end, note how late the player is with applying Reflect action hence the death.
You can also choose to end Reflect method a bit early around elemental level 45-46 to focus on mutated/adapted enemies again. An added benefit of White Flames is that they can mutate during Umbral Weather for more experience.
Levels 48 - 50
Keep grinding enemies 2 levels above you that can adapt or mutate. This is also where you can either focus on finishing your challenge log (if you still haven't) or start doing FATEs more actively. Remember that FATEs in Eureka scale to the number of players in the instance, so even if you're solo, it's quite possible to spawn and kill most FATEs alone, especially with some logos actions equipped.
It is always better to keep grinding mutated/adapted enemies at this level range but below FATEs give relatively good experience and Pyros crystals for relic progression.

*** Pyros Shuck spawns Heaven's Warg fate, they can be found at the far end of the cave in the southwest of the map.
**** Penthesilea is the Instance Boss of Pyros. Can get Penthesilea Flame from this fate if lvl 49+.
Special Notorious Monsters of Pyros
Haunter of the Dark: Ying-Yang aka YY
Ying-Yang, or YY is a level 49 Notorious Monster that drops Ying-Yang's Tissue, which you need to acquire a 6th magicite. In order to spawn YY, you need to kill level 54 Val Hecteyes'. Ying-Yang's mechanics change depending on day/night cycle, so if you are fighting him at around 6 AM/PM ET(Eorzea Time), don't be surprised if mechanics change.
Boss abilities
- Ravening Shadow: Depending on which head is awake, it is either a point blank AoE, or a massive donut AoE. If his left head is sleeping, and he has his right head awake (red eyes) the mechanic is a donut AoE, so either be inside his hitbox or very far out. If his right head is sleeping, and he has his left head awake (blue eyes), the mechanic is a point blank AoE, so get away from him.
- Sadistic Attack: Again, depending on which side is awake, he will cleave the side with awake head. Go to sleepy side to avoid it.
- Dark: A ground-targeted AoE under random players, avoid it. It might happen right before Sadistic Attack, so watch out.
- Again, the boss mechanics will change depending on day/night cycle, so watch out.
Heavens' Warg: Skoll
Skoll is a level 50 Notorious Monster that drops Skoll's Claw, which you need to acquire for a 6th magicite. In order to spawn Skoll, you need to kill level 55 Pyros Shucks, which are at the southwesternmost corner of the map. Note that even though mobs are there, Skoll will spawn in the middle of the map.
Boss abilities
- The Storm Within: Point blank AoE. Get out.
- The Storm Without: Massive donut AoE. Go inside his hitbox to be safe.
- Endless Frost: Raidwide AoE.
- Ancient Glacier: Skoll summons 3 random AoE puddles, avoid them.
- Ecliptic Bite: He jumps to a single person and bites them. Awoo!
- Heavensward Howl: Short but wide frontal conal aoe. Move to sides or back to dodge it.
- Hoarhound Halo: Very long conal aoe behind him. Move to sides or front to dodge it.
- Arcane Howl: Gives himself a nice little buff that you can dispel with Logos Action Dispel L.
- Mocking Howl: Stack marker.
Lost Epic: Penthesilea aka Penny
Penthesilea, or Penny as people call her, is a level 50 notorious monster, and is the zone boss of Pyros. It drops Penthesilea's Flame that you need to finish your Pyros relic. In order to do the upgrade you need 5 Flames in total, which can either be dropped by the FATE or bought for 50 Pyros Crystals. In order to get those drops from the FATE, you have to have an elemental level of 49 or higher, otherwise you wont get the drop. In order to spawn Penny, you need to kill level 55 Val Bloodgliders. She can spawn only during Heatwaves weather, however, she can be prepped at any time by killing Val Bloodgliders in front of her cave. If there are only 2-3 people, players can use Reflect L to stand in their conal AoEs and kill them faster as one player tanks them.
Boss abilities
- Dramatic Flare: She targets a random player for an AoE, place it nearby other players cause it connects with next mechanic (in all of the casts except for the very first one). There are also 3 static ground aoes that appear, just walk out of those.
- Center of Convection: She jumps to the person targetted for dramatic flare and does a huge aoe around her. Go inside her hitbox for a safe spot.
- Thrown kiss: Single target tankbuster
- Tongues of flame: Frontal line aoe
- Ardent Caress: Raidwide damage, enough to kill anyone not level 50
- Rain of Ire: A random person gets targetted by a ground aoe, a bit larger than Dramatic Flare ones. It will follow that person slowly, appearing 3 times.
- Fire Flies: She summons butterfly adds that need to be dealt with; as they appear, they start casting mutation. During that time they do not attack and are killed much easier than later. As they mutate, they become a nuisance, try to kill them before or at least get them as low as possible.
