The Wielder of In Muinderg, the Spear of Morning

Owain is one of the two first bosses of the Baldesion Arsenal, alongside his brother, Art. Owain is found in the Munderg Containment Unit.

In battle, Owain wields the spear of morning, Munderg, and uses the elements of Ice & Fire to defeat his opponents. Throughout the battle, he will continually switch his element between these two.

He will, as he switches, be elementally weak to Wind and Fire. Wind to snuff out the Fire, and Fire to melt the Ice.

List of Abilities

  • Elemental Shift: Owain switches his element between Ice & Fire.
  • Thricecull: Tankbuster.
  • Acallam na Senorach: Raidwide.
  • Mythcall: Owain calls down eight spears around the edges of the arena, suffused with either Ice or Fire.
  • Elemental Magicks: A point blank AoE appears underneath Owain. At the same time, spears that match Owain's element will also explode.
  • Spiritcull: Circular AoE or triangle markers will be placed on random people.
  • Legendary Imbas: Triangle markers will be placed upon people, indicating that they must stack together. Failing to do so will inflict heavy damage and a Mark of Mortality on the member that stood alone.
  • Pitfall: Owain disappears from the arena, and a proximity AoE appears somewhere. Owain will reappear as the AoE goes off.
  • Piercing Light: Owain applies a circular AoE on two random players.
  • Hands: 2 hands (Ivory Palm) will spawn and tether to random players. They will approach to tethered players and stop moving only when the tethered player is looking at the hand. They will have a Defense Up buff if they are not close to the tethered player. If not killed in time, will explode dealing heavy damage and inflicting Damage Down. Their auto attack is called Eurekan Aero and can be lethal if hands are not handled correctly.

What to watch out for

Elemental Shift and Elemental Magicks

Just like Art, Owain is also a very predictable fight. Keep an eye out on Elemental Shift and go under an opposite element spear.

Miscellaneous

  • If you are fighting Owain with an undersized group, ensure you don't have 5 people fighting him. If there are 5 players, Legendary Imbas (triangle markers) during Spiritcull will do a massive damage to unpaired player, most likely killing them in one hit. Having 4,6 and 7 players is fine.

Trivia

  • Owain, and his brother Art, are references to the characters "Art" and "Eógan" in the Irish piece of literature known as "Acallam na Senórach". There, they are the two sons of the King of Connaught, and are bestowed the two spears "In Muinderg" and "In Órlasrach"
  • Owain's spear, Munderg, is also known as "The Red-Necked"
  • Owain shares is a recoloured version of Connla, the add showing up during Scathach's encounter in Dun Scaith, further reinforcing his ties to Irish mythology and literature.
