Light
Upon finishing your first Pyros Weapon, you will unlock Light, as you already know from Pagos. However, note that light farming is only used for giving your relic weapon stats, and hence is optional. Underneath your Duty Information, where you can see how long your timer lasts, you now can find a bar, representative for how much Light you have already collected. On the right side you can see an example, how this might look.
Light is awarded at a fixed rate as fate rewards or randomly from enemies. You have a higher change of getting light from enemies the more EXP you get, which means targetting mobs of a higher level than you and stacking experience buffs is recommended, e.g. Pyros Elemental (Fairy Buff) and Potion of Harmony.
The kettle can hold a maximum of 9 Light at a time. You can see a small number above your light bar, which indicates how much Light is currently accumulated in the kettle. Once the kettle reaches 9 Light, you will not be able to collect any more. In order to empty your kettle and to turn the Light into Smoldering Protean Crystals you want to visit the forge, which is located at The Partisan's Proof at X: 22.2 Y:6.0. The easiest way to go there is teleporting to The Firing Chamber, then heading pretty much straigt north.
When you are inside the cave, simply interact with the forge and all your collected Light will be exchanged for Smoldering Protean Crystals and you can continue collecting more Light. Smoldering Protean Crystals can be used to enhance your Pyros/Hydatos weapon with stats. This is highly optional at this point, but remember it can be done after you've done with Hydatos as well. If you put any stats in it, those will not get erased as your weapon progresses.
Light Farming Methods in Pyros
There are multiple ways to farm light in Pyros. Most popular ones however are mainly:
- Light Farm using Northern Bunny FATE
- Light Farm via Mutated Enemies: Heat-warped Lockboxes
Light Farm using Northern Bunny FATE
As southern Bunny FATE is often being done for loot reasons, its almost never usable for syncing down so this is not recommended method.
The Northern Bunny Fate can be used, however. It will sync you to level 49, and enemies around the FATE are level 50-51. While the difference isn't too great, many enemies around that FATE can adapt or mutate so it can be fruitful. If you're going to be pulling hawks (they adapt during all weather conditions), be mindful of their stacking poison debuff. It's recommended to use Bloodbath L to grind these. Get enemies to low HP, then sync in with the bunny FATE and kill them.
Mutated Enemies and Heat-Warped Lockboxes
In order to farm Heat-warped Lockboxes, you have to find monsters, whose level is higher than yours and which will mutate under the given weather and time. It is advised to have a group of multiple people in order to tackle higher levelled mobs than you could do alone. However, this can be done alone too with appropriate Logos Actions. In general try the highest level mob possible, but check for the specific time and weather conditions.
SOLO FARM
- Level 51 Henbanes during daytime, they will mutate every weather condition.
- Level 53 Singhas during nighttime, they will mutate every weather condition.
GROUP FARM
- Level 55 Val Gigantopithecus', which will mutate only during Umbral Wind weather.
Using Val Gigantopithecus is an exceptional method to farm light as well as lockboxes, however you might need a group of decent size with decent elemental gear to farm it efficiently. Otherwise stick to other mutations. You can also use Singhas if your group is small (2-3 people).
Even though these mobs are the most used to farm light, you can use the bestiary to find mutating/adapting enemies appropriate to your level if you aren't max level yet.
